Meet Emily

Emily -Day- Little grew up in the panhandle of Florida, in a small town called Niceville. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Central Florida and earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications. Emily returned to her alma mater as Niceville Senior High School’s art teacher for four years. In 2019, Emily started The Traveling Painter as a way to bring painting to people. Beginning first with small commissions or orders, she started to grow her brand into more dynamic directions. From small private painting events, to mural commissions, Emily strives to create wherever she can and provides custom products, events, and orders for whatever occasion. Emily is now back in Santa Rosa working full-time as owner of The Traveling Painter and recently completed her master’s degree in Art Education.

Recent Work

The Gal Nursery

This mural was for two friends of mine who are expecting a baby boy! They requested a Toy Story inspired room with his name, Ryder placed in the middle wall. This mural was so much fun and I had the best time knowing it was going to be for the coolest soon to be boy!

The Gonzalez Family Playroom Mural

During my latest mural, I was asked to create some artwork for some family friend’s playroom. They asked for some Disney inspiration, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Mirabel in the Encanto house

The Palms Coffeehouse Mural

During my latest mural, I was asked to create some artwork for the newly renovated Palms Coffeehouse in Destin, Florida. They have an incredible team who has been working very hard to update and create a cozy and creative space for everyone that comes in. It was awesome to help contribute to this amazing space and I cannot wait to go back to visit and sip on their amazing Americanos!

Robb Elementary School (Uvalde, TX)

Fundraising Sticker

I have been thinking of way I could try and help the families of this tragedy during this time.

I came up with the idea of a sticker. Small in size, but big in meaning. A visual representation of support for these families affected by this tragedy. This sticker will represent an effort to try and ease the next steps for these suffering families. Thanks to the support of my friends, family, and local community, we were able to raise 615$ in proceeds to donate directly to the Robb Elementary School Memorial Fund.

“Ban the Carriage” Graphic Tee

I designed this graphic tee in an attempt to highlight a current issue that has become important to me. I find horse carriages unnecessary in general, but especially in tourist attractions in urban areas. All profits from this t-shirt will go directly towards efforts to ban horse carriages for good.
Pre-order your shirt today, all orders will ship February 12th!

Recent Commission

I was lucky enough to be asked by long time family friends to create an art piece that highlighted their time in Guatemala. They wanted an “impressionistic” style piece and I tried to create a work with heavy texture. I am pretty new to this style of painting and had a great time experimenting with oils in this work!

STEAM+ Teaching Artist

After moving to Miami, I began working at The Bass Museum on Miami Beach. First, as an intern within the Communications department, I transitioned to the education sector after about 6 months and began working with the STEAM+ program of Miami Beach. Working as a member of the Bass Museum, I collaborate with local public schools working to create artwork that integrates elements and principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. I have also worked as a teaching artist for some of the Summer art program at the Bass Museum as well.
